Maria “Gloria” Lerma a long-time resident of Lake Jackson passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Clute, Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her family as she was peacefully called by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gloria was born on April 2, 1945 in Laredo, Texas to Martin and Romana Gonzalez and had seven brothers and sisters.
She married the love of her life, Margil Jorge Lerma, in 1964. Shortly afterwards they moved to the Brazosport area, eventually settling in Lake Jackson where they started and raised their family. Gloria was a loving, compassionate and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her time to her family and always placed them first. Gloria worked for Sears and Walmart until her retirement in 2007.
She is survived by two children, Jorge Lerma Jr. and wife, Geneva, of Lake Jackson, Sally Villarreal and husband, Eddie, of Lake Jackson; six grandchildren, Marcos, Jacob, Olivia, Sara, Amy, and Jodie; sister Maria Concepcion Hinojosa and brothers Martin Gonzalez and Ramiro Jose Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Margil Jorge Lerma; children Patricio and Rachel Lerma; parents Martin and Romana Gonzalez; sisters Maria Luisa Arreguin, Maria Francisca Gonzalez, Romanita Chandarlis and brother Carlos Gonzalez
