Lester (Les) was born to TJ and Laura Mae Dorris on Veterans Day on November 11, 1937, in Yoakum, Tx. Les married Veronica Vanek Dorris in Freeport, TX on June 4, 1983.
Les retired from Dow Chemical Freeport, after 30+ years. After retirement from Dow, he ventured into another career with Sentry Polymers and ARA Mark at Dow.
Les graduated from Brazosport High School and San Houston State College. Before his health issues, he and Vee enjoyed Rving all across the United States visiting all states except seven. As a hobby, Lester was an artist, volunteered for several non-profit organizations, worked in his garden and large yard, hummingbird and bird watching, loved to fish, and enjoyed antiquing and junking with Vee
Les is preceded in death by his parents, TJ and Laura Mae Dorris; his wife’s parents, Joe and Mary Vanek; his brothers-in-law, Larry Hancock and Bernard Vanek; and his loving canines, Suzy-Q, Heidi and Meesha.
Les is survived by his wife, Veronica Dorris; sons, Jason (Maha) Dorris and Craig Matula-Dorris; daughters, Kellie Hedlund (Robert James) and Kaysie Morrison; grandsons, Tristan and Cayden Morrison; granddaughters, Meagan (Jennifer) Holland, Jessica Dorris and Branden (Amy) Dorris; great grandsons, Rylee Dorris-Holland and Levi Dorris; sister, Rose Hancock; brother, Carlos (Karen) Dorris; many nieces, nephews and friends, along with his faithful canines, Buffy and Gabby.
Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 4:00 pm, at Restwood Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott McKay officiating.
Come dressed casually and with any stories of Lester you may want to share. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Jackson SPCA, 141 Canna Lane, Lake Jackson, Tx 77566, Gulf Coast STARS Animal Rescue, PO Box 2841, Angleton, TX 77515, or the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Tx 77054 in Lester’s memory.
