Jose Luis Rodriguez

We are here to celebrate the life of Jose Luis Rodriguez “Joe”, of Clute, Texas. He passed away Friday October 29, 2021, after a battle with Covid. Joe was born to Guadalupe and Raul Rodriguez on March 9, 1948. He married Guadalupe Ortiz Rodriguez on April 2nd, 1970, in Acuna Coah, Mex.

Joe moved to Freeport, Clute, & Lake Jackson area in the early 70’s. He was the best auto mechanic and auto body painter in Brazoria County. He owned his own mechanic shop and enjoyed working on cars with his sons and grandsons. Joe was a true example of a provider and protector for his family of 8. He suffered several strokes in 2004 & 2014 which caused him to be bed bound in 2014. He was cared for by his wife Guadalupe. Joe had a funny way of showing his love, he wouldn’t say “I loved you”, but he would make jokes about you. The last days Joe was able to communicate during his hospital stay, he did say “I love you”, to several of his grandkids.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Guadalupe Ortiz Rodriguez, he is survived by siblings Dora, Rosa, Erlinda, Ana, Elena, Lupi, Julio, Tito, & Raul Rodriguez, “son Jose Juan (Christina)Mendez;” daughter Rosa Elia Rodriguez, son Luis Alberto Rodriguez, “daughter Veronica (Jose) Rodriguez;” “daughter, Maria Teresa (Guillermo) Reyes;” “son Jose Raul (Claudia) Rodriguez;” “son Jorge (Mayra) Rodriguez. Grandchildren Jorge, Joey, Emily, Mary, Junior, Victor, Alejandro, Brianna, Renee, Yesenia, Manuel & Carmen, Francisco, Michael & Abby, Consejo, Ruby & Bobby, Angela, Jose, Mario, Alex & Monique, Rogelio, Jaqueline & Emmanuel. Great grandchildren Sophie, Camilla, Jamar, Antonio, Jaime, Aleyna, Miguel Jr. Yamilet, Andres, Mila, Hector, Crickett, James Jr. Elizabet, & Genesis.

Serving as Pallbearers will be his Sons; Jose Juan Mendez, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, Jose Raul Rodriguez, Jorge Rodriguez.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be his Grandsons; Bobby Jean Miller, Manuel Hernandez Jr., Michael Hernandez, Jorge Rodriguez Jr., Jose A Lopez.

Visitation will be held on November 3, 2021, at 1pm to 7pm at Restwood Funeral Home. Service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at 9:00am Restwood Funeral Home following to St. Jerome mass at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2021.
