James, known to his family as Chip and his friends as Jim or Sparky was born to James LeRoy and Margaret Adele Lumpkin on July 14, 1951 in Beaumont, Texas.
Jim married Deborah Sue Nasir in Friendswood, TX on July 8, 2011.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975.
As a young man, Jim worked in his father’s automotive shop and gas station, where he developed his love of solving problems and getting greasy. Jim graduated from Lamar University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He went to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone and then Kemah Boardwalk. In the Spring of 2020 Jim retired as a high school math teacher having served the student populations at Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Tx, and Brazosport Highschool in Freeport Texas.
Jim loved spending time with his brother working on cars and participating in Autocross events. Jim’s passion for motor vehicles extended to his 1997 FXSTC Softail Custom Harley Davidson motorcycle which he took to Sturgis in 2005. He was also an avid fisherman finding any excuse he could to get a line in the water.
Jim is preceded in death by his father James and Mother Margaret.
Jim is survived by his wife Deborah, his sister and husband, Margaret and Les Lakie, his brother and wife, Stuart and Helen Lumpkin, the mother of his children, Patricia Lumpkin, his daughter Allyson Diane Mann, his son and wife James Scott and Tamara Lumpkin, his step daughter, Tonja Bryant, step son and wife Ramsey Nasir and Pixie Henry, his step daughter and husband, Evleen and Kevin Nasir, his eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
