Jake graduated Brazoswood High School, class of 2009. He received his Associates degree from Brazosport College and then attended Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. After returning to the area, Jake had several jobs and was currently working for the City of Lake Jackson.
In the thirty young years of his life, Jake gave us the most precious memories any son, brother, father, grandson, nephew, friend and child of God could bless us with. He was gifted with the sweetest spirit throughout his life and he constantly displayed this in his younger years by being the most protective big brother to his little sister Annie. He was a best friend to his father Joel and most loving son to his mother Dana. He had the most contagious and sometimes mischievous smile but always the ultimate kindhearted person. He blessed us all with the perfect little Wyatt Jacob Welch, his son, whom he gave his whole heart to and could make laugh like no one else. Our lives on earth will never be the same without your physical presence but rest assured that our future heavenly reunion will be greeted with that beautiful smile and the warmest hugs. We love you Jake and are so grateful God gave you to us.
As a kid Jake enjoyed sports, playing TAAF Basketball, Football and playing select Baseball with the Jammers where he developed many long lasting friendships. He had many friends that he cherished but none more than his childhood friend, Jordan Rogers. He was a Cowboys and Astros fan. He and his family attended the last Astros game played in the Astrodome and then he and his dad were able to see the first Astros game played at Enron Field (now Minute Maid Park).
Jake is preceded in death by his Grandfather Jack. L. Welch, Sr. “Pops”, Great Grandparents Robert and Ola Welch, Wyatt and Rosie Lee Taylor, Albert and Roselle Wilson, B.C. Copeland and Norma Copeland Gray.
Jake is survived by his son Wyatt Jacob Welch. Parents Joel and Dana Welch, and sister Annie Welch. Grandparents Bud and Laura Wilson “MiMi”, and Gerrie Welch “MiMi.” Great aunts Nancy Copeland and Darlene Sargent (Harry) and Great uncle Gary Copeland.
