Gerald Don Shelton Sr, 73, of Cleveland, Texas passed away on April 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Don was born December 07, 1947, in Freeport, Texas to the late Elbert Andrew Shelton Sr. and Allie Lucille Lewis Shelton Harris.
Don enjoyed trail riding, camping with family, fishing, hunting, loved barbequing, entertaining family and friends, and staying busy on his land. He enjoyed playing dominos, poker, and a good series on Netflix. There was never anything Don could not fix and always had to be working on something. Don was a kindhearted man that would help anyone in need and cared for his family like no other. He had a newfound passion for taking cruises pre-pandemic and loved the benefit of having the casino on the ships. He was a Master Electrician by trade, an Army Veteran, and a member of the IBEW Local 716.
Preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Allie, his siblings Betty Keith Mitchell, Grady Shelton, Brady Shelton, Willie Macon Ashmun, James “Jimmy” Shelton, Elbert Andrew Shelton Jr., and Cecelie Ann Beck Taylor.
Survived by his wife of 56 years Charlotte Jean (Simmons) Shelton of Cleveland; son Gerald Don Shelton Jr. and wife Lynn of Demijohn Island; son Brent John Shelton of Angleton; son Chad Ray Shelton and husband Nicholas Fisher of Lake Jackson. Grandchildren Lauren Evon Shelton, Jess Elizabeth Shelton, Dalton Tyler Shelton, Cameron Daniel Buscher, Collin Michael Buscher, Great-Grandson Carter Ray Hayes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
