Preceded in death by his beautiful wife Marie Peluso of 55 years, father George Hunter, mother Irene Golding Hunter, brothers Robert and Richard. Survived by his children: Bruce Donald Hunter, Marsha Dee Hunter, David George Hunter MD PhD, Annmarie Hunter, William (Bill) Robert Hunter and their spouses; grandchildren: Adam Hunter, Luke Hunter, Aidan Hunter; and many nieces and nephews.
Storied career in the electronics industry, starting out as production supervisor with CBS Electronics, working over the years at Transitron, Clevite, Raytheon, Litton, Control Data (4 divisions) and retiring as Executive Vice President of Intermedics. His expertise was manufacturing & general management. Was responsible for facilities throughout the US and Europe, including Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, England, Scotland, Mexico and Brazil. Was a founder of Paradigm, a NY Stock exchange company later sold to AT&T. Original investor in Hemex, a heart valve company, that was sold to a NY stock exchange company. Was part owner of AMI in Tulsa, OK, and an original investor in Contracap. Invested in several other startup companies, some successful, some not. Was on the Board of Directors of AMI (Austin, TX) Austin American Technology (Austin, TX) Contracap (Chicago, IL) and Intermedics Swiss Operations (Europe).
Greatly influenced by the First Congregational Church while growing up in Braintree. Was a member of Pilgrim Fellowship, Christian Endeavor, and head usher in the church after the war, along with being President of the Young Adult Group. Received a bible for 12 years perfect attendance at Sunday School. Taught Sunday School in Newburyport, MA at the Belville Congregational Church.
Served in the US Army (artillery unit) from 1943-1946 during WW2 and earned 3 battle stars. At about 18 years old, landed in Normandie D+66, and got right up to the front. Was one of the first troops into Germany at Aachen and crossed the Rhine River on the Remagen Bridge. Then met the Russians at the Elbe River.
Graduated from Braintree High School in 1943 with 4 years of perfect attendance. Played the piano in the orchestra, the bass fiddle in the band, was business manager of the yearbook, and participated in all sports except football. Graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 1952, majored in Industrial Management.
