Derrick grew up, lived, went to schools and worked in the lower Brazoria County area, but called Lazy Lane, Clute, Texas, his HOME!
Throughout his life, Derrick developed an extreme passion for dogs, and although he cared for dogs in general, his devotion was to the Frenchie and Bulldog breeds. Along with his affection for dogs, Derrick was a lifelong, die hard Cowboys fanatic! And even though his favorite color was red, he still could be seen sporting his Cowboys gear. To know Derrick, means you’d know that he was a true sneakerhead! Even when he asked to borrow $40 (family insider) he was still going to have him some new shoes.
Derrick brightened the lives of any and everyone who he came in contact with. His smile, his eyes, and that unforgettable voice left an ever-lasting impression on all who knew him.
On September 28, 2021, Derrick unexpectedly made his grand exit from this world.
Derrick is preceded in his passing by, Grandpa Floyd Harris Sr.(“Gramps”), uncle DD, and Lawrence Holden.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are his parents Pricilla Torres and Clifton Harris Sr.; sister Stacey Hawkins and brother-in-law Charles Hawkins; his daughter, Kasha Torres; his sons, Zae Torres and Deontae Torres; his one and only grandson, Kairo Powell; mother of his children, Tasha Vonminden; Grandma Marie Harris, Grandma Lisa; Uncle Jr. and family; Aunt Yogi Ramos; Uncle Pablo Ramos; Aunt Angelica Torres; cousin Angel Torres; cousins Ashley and Joel Ramos; cousin Sheila; nephews Alighja and Justice (Baby) Hawkins; and close friend Kara Bryant.
