David Frederick Phillips, of Angleton, Texas, was born on July 4, 1955 and died on May 8, 2023. He was born in Englewood, New Jersey to John Alexander Phillips and Lucille Milsap Phillips. He moved to Houston, Texas during his late teens and went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 4 ½ years in Fort Hood and Germany, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant by the time he was honorably discharged.
David worked as a reserve constable for Precinct 4 in Houston, Texas. He also worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 30 years and retired as a contractor working for the Dow Chemical Company.
David enjoyed computer gaming, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 ½ years, Jessie Phillips, of whom he often proclaimed was “the best thing that ever happened to me” and with whom he loved to laugh. He is also survived by his brothers Bill Phillips, John Phillips and Andrew Phillips. Sons Edward (Kerstin), Raymond, Roy and daughter Raynell. Grandchildren Patricia, Keelena and David. Great-grandchildren Vivian and Freya.
David was predeceased by his parents and brother, Anthony Phillips.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with arrangements made by Restwood Funeral Home. Interment will be at Restwood Cemetery, located at 1038 W Plantation Dr. Clute, TX 77531.
