Barbara Ann Freeman Hill passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 28, 2013, at the age of 84. She was born on August 30, 1928, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Edna and George “Nub” Freeman. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her infant twin brother, Stephen, her loving husband, J. T. Hill, and her granddaughter, Lindsay Jones. Surviving family includes her sons, John Hill and Steve (Elsa) Hill; her daughters, Cathy Garrett, Evelyn (Ken) Mueller, and Nancy (Pat) Broussard. Her grandchildren include Dallas (Elizabeth) Vincent, David (Stephanie) Vincent, Wes (Brandy) Hill, Connor Hill, Cierra Hill, and James Seidler. Her great grandchildren are Darien, Logan, Reese, Zephyr, Cadelyn and Haley. Barbara and J. T. married in 1949, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They were married 61 years until his death in 2010. They moved to Freeport in 1950 where J. T. began his career at Dow. They settled in Lake Jackson soon after, where she was a housewife and raised five children. She spent time volunteering as a “pink lady” at the Brazosport Community Hospital. She enjoyed her time spent in both the geriatric unit as well as the nursery. Barbara was also a volunteer for many years at the Lake Jackson Library. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
