Tina was born and raised in Fresno, CA during World War II, the only child of John Stathakis, and Josephine Arabello. She grew up in the "Silent Generation" and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960.
Tina met her first love, James "Jim" P. Slover, Jr. in high school and married him in 1962. They had two children together, Troy and Andrea, whom she loved deeply and cared for while James served in the United States Air Force and later worked in medical sales. James passed away in 1993.
Tina worked multiple jobs in and out of the home including office work, jewelry sales, and babysitting before working in education. She changed the lives of many children including those with special needs in the Fresno and Clovis Unified School District, helping them reach their full potential. Her main priority was providing love and care for her children.
A friend and neighbor introduced Tina to Duane N. McCormick. They fell in love and married in 1995. Duane worked at American Warehouse as president and partner. He supported her with all his heart. Tina and Duane often split their time living in Fresno, CA, and Pismo Beach, CA.
Tina loved animals. She supported animal rights and gave many dogs and cats a loving home and better quality of life. She often adopted animals from local shelters and took in strays or animals that experienced hardship.
She always made the effort to listen to others' life challenges and offered them encouragement and help. She listened with her ears and her heart. Her door was always open. She was very giving to others and they appreciated her generosity. She often attended mass both at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno.
Tina is survived by her husband, Duane McCormick; two children Troy and Andrea; her dog Hanna; and cat, Green Eyes. She will be missed by her family, many friends, and pets who loved her dearly.
