Roy passed from this life at his home on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the age of 91.
Roy was born July 4th, 1930 in Nardin, OK to Roy Lee Lockwood Sr. and Eva G. Lockwood.
Roy had a successful and fulfilling career as an aviator with the California Army National Guard culminating with command of the CANG Aircraft Maintenance Facility in Fresno. His love of flying was rewarded by being type-certified in many different aircraft, both helicopters and fixed-wing.
Although later in life his activities were reduced by age and infirmity, in his younger years Roy enjoyed camping in the Sierra with his family. He taught his sons a love for the outdoors that still endures.
After retirement Roy remained active with a number of organizations. His favorite was the ‘Quiet Birdmen’, an aviation fraternity. He was also a life-long member of the Masons.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his long time companion Sheila August, his parents Roy Sr. and Eva, his brothers John T. Allen, Dale Lockwood and Duane Lockwood, and his former wife Betty (mother to his sons),.
Roy is survived by sons Lee Lockwood (Dawn) and Kevin Lockwood (Kris), four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Roy will be greatly missed by those of us who remain. His memory is held in the highest love, respect and admiration by his family, friends, associates and co-workers.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to any Veterans organization.
A Visitation for Roy will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Boice Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Ave, Clovis, California 93612, followed by a Graveside Service at Clovis Cemetery, 305 N. Villa Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.boicefuneralhome.com for the Lockwood family.
