passed away in Clovis, CA, on
Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was
31. Dr. "Jon" Psaila was born on
December 19, 1985.
He grew up in the rural countryside
of Clovis, CA, where his deep
appreciation for animals began.
While attending Clovis High school,
Jon was an active member of the
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
and established a large Main Anjou
cattle operation. He pursued his
dream of becoming a veterinarian
and graduating from Oklahoma
State University Center for Veterinary
Health Sciences in 2013.
Jon then spent two years practicing
veterinary medicine in Elk City, OK,
before moving back to Clovis in
2015, to start Psaila Veterinary
Services, a mobile veterinary clinic.
The mobile clinic provided medical
care for animals from underserved
families throughout the Central
Valley. Jon also developed a pet
food pantry with Fresno County's
4-H to collect and distribute pet
food to those in need.
When Jon wasn't helping pet owners
and their best friends live long
and healthy lives together, he spent
time outdoors, nurturing his flourishing
gardens. Jon was the chairman
of the Mendota FFA Agricultural
Advisory committee and a
member of the California Veterinary
Board. He was a light in the lives of
all who knew him.
Jon is survived by his parents,
Kellie and Dennis Psaila; his brother,
Chris Psaila; his grandparents,
Cora Chronister, and Josie and
Chuck Psaila; his aunts and uncles,
Kimmie and Lance Fisken, Jerry and
Nancy Chronister, Jan and Derek
Yoder, David and Linda Psaila, and
Danny Psaila; and numerous cousins.
A scholarship has been established
in Jon's memory to support
the post secondary education of
Clovis FFA members. Donations
