Irene M. Hansen, born to Herman & Maida Schumacher on August 23, 1930, passed away in Clovis, California on January 21, 2024. She is survived by her brother Norman Schumacher and sister Edith Schumacher.
Irene attended school in Hull, Iowa from kindergarten thru high school and graduated from Hull High School as Valedictorian of her class. After high school, she attended the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State Teachers College, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Art. After graduation from the University, she was a school teacher in Cresco, Iowa.
After a short stay in Cresco, she got married to Thor Hansen. They moved to Ridgecrest, California where her husband was on active duty at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center. Upon release from active duty, they moved to Clovis, California.
Irene held a teaching job for the Clovis Unified School District. She later received a Masters Degree in Education from Fresno State. She was a School Administrator for the Clovis Unified School District under Doc Buchanan. Irene retired from the Clovis Unified School District and settled down in Clovis.
A Graveside Service for Irene will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Sanger Cemetery, 568 South Rainbow Avenue, Sanger, California 93657.
