Jerry’s family moved to Fresno, California when he was approximately six years old. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy. After completing his service, Jerry graduated from Grand Canyon College and attended Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary becoming an ordained Southern Baptist Minister.
Jerry was predeceased by both of his parents, older brother Ronald Welker and younger sister Beverly Hodge.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Lavonne Welker; his daughter Lorrie Kennison; and his son Scott Alan Welker; his granddaughter Brandi Travis, his grandson-in-law Kyle Travis, his grandson Daniel Young, his granddaughter-in-law Sarah Young, his great-grandson Reid Travis and his great-grandson Wyatt Travis.
A Celebration of Life service for Jerry will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Southern Baptist Church, 4890 East Holland Avenue, Fresno, California 93726.
