After serving in the Navy, as a jet engine mechanic, during the Vietnam War, Frank worked as a farm machinery mechanic and eventually a farm machinery salesman for twenty years. His interest in horses led him to volunteer on the Fresno County Search and Rescue team, which ultimately led to his pursuit of a career in law enforcement as a Fresno County Deputy Sheriff. Frank is a member of Oakview Baptist Church in Auberry, CA.
He was known for his ability to contribute spice and humor to his interactions with both well known friends and new acquaintances, often initiating conversations with complete strangers while sitting in a doctor's office. He held strong opinions on many topics and was not afraid to share these opinions with anyone he met. A love of hunting and fishing was nurtured during his early years, and this love of the outdoors expanded when he began riding horses in the backcountry of the high Sierras. This passion, however, was cut short by a motorcycle accident which left him in a state of disability for the remainder of his life. With modifications and accommodations, he was still able to pursue the joy of traveling to a variety of destinations, especially through cruising. In his later years, after re-dedicating his life to Jesus Christ, he would often ask a new acquaintance if they knew Jesus. Regardless of their response, he generally followed up by providing them with his own personal testimony and encouraged them to follow Jesus. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Frank's life was characterized by his love of God and family. He spent time each day praying for the needs of friends and family, and sending uplifting emails to whatever group of individuals he felt would benefit from the selected passages. One of his primary concerns was that each and every member of his family have the promise of eternal salvation, and to this end, he continually encouraged them and prayed for them.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, a son, Robert Takacs, a daughter, Jennifer Bigler, and five grandchildren, Megan Woida, Ryan Takacs, Logan Bigler, Griffen Almanza-Ward and Robert Almanza-Ward, plus two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Peters, his brother, Dennis Takacs and his wife Holly, his mother-in-law, Janet Foote, brothers/sisters in law, David and Cheryl Motsenbocker, and Rodney and Carolyn Bray, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
