Donald Marion Davis was born November 24, 1926 and departed his earthly body to join our Lord on September 2, 2021. Born in Exeter, CA, he became an all-American athlete in football also lettering in basketball and track. After completing his senior season in football, Don joined the US Navy as WWII was still raging. Following WWII, Don returned home briefly revisiting his football career at the college level. Deciding that wasn't his life goal, Don entered the workforce. Don met Lois Miller who became the 'love of his life' and married in 1947. They had 2 children, Robert and Sharon. Moving to Clovis in 1953 after joining the Operating Engineers Union Local 3 in 1951, Don worked for Pacific Coast Aggregates. Don remained a member of Operating Engineers Local 3 actively until he retired with 35 years. He remained active as a retired member until his death. Don was also active in local veteran's activity sponsored by Clovis Memorial District.
Don and Lois were very active with friends and in various capacities in the community of Clovis, plus owning a business and raising a family. They enjoyed traveling across the U.S. in a motorhome with friends Virgil and Marge Tinkler. Don also played golf, coached baseball and football with best friend Ralph Lockwood.
Don and Lois were very family oriented constantly involving family in their lives. Lois' Uncle Jeff and Aunt Edith were always present and involved in their family life. Don was very close with family, his mom and dad, as well as both sisters, Doris and Mary. Doris had 5 children; Jim, Steven, David, Robyn and Linda.
Mary had 2 children; Patty and Donna.
There were many, many trips back to Exeter for family gatherings with Christmas being the largest. Don and Lois were also very close to Vesta Fowler, Lois's sister-in-law, and her 3 children; Teri, Ron and Gary. Great family memories were created over the years.
Don was preceded in death his parents, Allan and Gladys; sisters Doris and Mary, wife Lois and daughter Sharon and nephew Steve.
Don is survived by son Robert and wife Lisa, 5 grandchildren and their spouses; Ami and husband Brandon, Tamra and husband Kevin, Wendi, Bradly and wife Callie and Kori. 12 great-grandchildren; Brett and wife Katlyn, BreeAnn and husband Chase, John, Bryar and fiancee Baylee, Cearra, Fiona, Evyn, Brooklyn, Gracie, George, Nate and Will. In addition, 2 great-great grandchildren; Harper, Cooper and Hunter is on the way.
There will be a viewing on September 14th from 1-5pm at Boice Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis. Due to the recent extreme surge in the Delta variant, large gatherings are not suggested or recommended, therefore private services are for family only.
