Brenda Joyce Schroer, age 76, of Clovis, California entered into rest on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Brenda was born December 23, 1945 in Marianna, Florida to Florence Estelle Sims and Paul Evan Potter.
Brenda was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving a 3-year mission in Washington DC with her husband Jerry. In church she served in many leadership and teaching positions, loving and touching the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact with.
She lived in the mountain community of Auberry/Prather for 40 years, often helping the teachers of her six children and grandchildren in their various schools: Auberry Elementary, Foothill Middle School and Sierra High School. Brenda did whatever was necessary to help provide for her family, including babysitting, cleaning homes and new construction, and opening a Curves in the Prather Center. She worked for the University of Southern California (while her husband was in school as secretary for the Dean of Pedodontics). She was an excellent secretary, being fluent in shorthand and in charge of a large pool of typists.
She is survived by her husband Jerry of 56 years, her six children, Jason Schroer of Las Vegas, Krista Sims of Clearfield Utah, Allen Schroer of Clovis, Damon Schroer of Las Vegas, Nicole Ormita of Gilbert, Arizona and Eden Mori of Reedley; 18 grandchildren; Rebecca, Ana, Noemi and Andrew Schroer; Rachel, Connor, Katie, Noah and Joshua Sims; McKenzie, Paige and Jaxxon Schroer; Isabella and Sam Schroer: Ali' I Kai Ormita: Brayden Rhodes, Logan and Easton Mori; and 4 great-grandchildren, Anabelle and Tyrnan Hayes and Bentley and Sofia Pechetto; and Niece Cecelia Potter of West Sacramento.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father Paul Evan Potter and her mother Florence Estelle Sims; her sister's Jane and Paulette.
Brenda loved all life, especially rescuing all manner of pets, considering their lives as important as those of her family. She loved living in the mountains, finally moving down into Clovis 4 years ago, so her husband could be closer to medical services.
You could often find Brenda sitting outside her home on Corlew Mountain watching cloud formations, all manner of wildlife and especially the sunsets over Table Mountain.
She enjoyed spending many happy hours with her extended family at their Huntington Lake family cabin, hiking, fishing, camping, sailing, dancing, community sings and sitting around a campfire with her grandchildren roasting marshmallows. She took great pleasure playing all manner of games with her friends from church and was even known by them as a "card shark".
She was active in the political community, working and donating to her favorite causes, especially World Vision, and sponsoring numerous children in their schools for many years.
She is one of God's finest children and will be deeply missed by all.
