William "Bill" Webster Blount, age 83, loving husband, dad, grandfather, pastor, singer, mentor, and friend, peacefully stepped onto the shores of Heaven, his beloved home, on August 26, 2023. Dad will be dearly missed by Bonnie, his devoted wife of more than 65 years, their children William (Nancy) Blount, Lonnie (Nodja) Blount, Kim (Scott) Bostic, Micah Blount-Fish, Denise (Bob) Williams, Brian (Charity) Blount, 27 grandchildren, 18 (soon to be 20) great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.
Dad was born in Canton, OH on July 1, 1940, to Noah and Leslie Blount. As a boy, he received private voice lessons, and joined a prestigious boys’ choir, singing first soprano. Dad was born again at the age of 15 at Canton Baptist Temple, where B.R. Lakin was holding a revival. Dad and Mom were high school sweethearts, and members of the nationally recognized Massillon High School Acapella Choir. They were married in Massillon, OH on July 19, 1958.
In 1965 Dad graduated from Midwestern Baptist College, in Pontiac, MI with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Education. He was also ordained into the gospel ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Pontiac, MI. Later he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist College. While attending college, Dad and Mom triumphed through the valley of death as two of their children, Rodney and Pamela, went home to glory.
With a deep passion for souls, whether across the street or across the sea, Dad faithfully served his Lord for 58 years, as a dedicated pastor, evangelist, singer, and mentor, reaching and touching thousands of lives. He steadfastly lived his motto, “Preaching the glorious gospel of Christ, and making melody along the way!” This world continues to hear the divine echoes of his rich golden voice, for the glory of God.
