Vivian O’Neal Powell moved to Macomb County with her parents, the late I.V. and Josephine O’Neal in 1939, when she was four years old. She grew up as one of six children in Clinton Township, and was a graduate of Mount Clemens High School, Macomb Community College and Wayne State University. In 1959 she was hired by Township Supervisor, Kenneth Sanborn, to the Clinton Township Building Department where she worked for more than 41 years; starting as a clerk then promoted to office manager. Vivian’s mantra was God, Family and Community. She was a Notary Public for many years; a resource she used to assist not only her community but the many builders, developers and entrepreneurs in Macomb County. She served her faith community as a member of the Universal Hagar Spiritual Church, Detroit and First United Methodist, Mount Clemens. She believed that it’s up to each of us to make a contribution to society and that love, and respect will conquer all. Vivian and her husband of 50 years, the late Jesse S. Powell, always loved the state of Michigan where they raised and educated their three children in Macomb County. Vivian leaves to celebrate her life: Daughters Lynette Powell Holmes, LaDonna (Trent Sr.) Dunson, son - Stelton F. Powell. “The Super Seven” - Trent Jr, Aldo II (Ci’Erah), Jalisa, Trenell, Jessica, Stelton, II, and Jasmine; “GiGi’s Loves” – Jayden, SaDorah, Zarrah and Aldo III; sister - Mary Epson, sister-n-laws - Catherine Smith, Selene O’Neal, Elizabeth Lucas; her “other daughter,” Rhonda Powell; brother-n-law Michael (Amelda) Brown; number one companion and all-around buddy, Mr. Sox; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Special Cousins, Friends and Colleagues.
