Tammi was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on October 29, 1968. Growing up in Sterling Heights, Tammi graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School, then went on to attend Western Michigan University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Education in 1992. She remained a proud lifelong WMU alumni. She later obtained her master's degree in education from the University of Phoenix. By trade, Tammi was an elementary school teacher and a reading specialist, but those who knew Tammi understood that her career was an educator was a way of life for her. She greeted each new day with her kids with a smile, and she knew how to bring magic to her work. Particularly by example, Tammi had a different Halloween outfit for each day of school for October, or any holiday for that matter. She brought genuine enthusiasm to everything she did.
In recent years, Tammi retired from teaching and filled much of her time with one of her favorite activities, golfing. She would joke that she retired “to become an avid golfer”. It could even be said that her love of golfing was complementary to her love for Scotland. Tammi vacationed in Scotland with her husband multiple times playing rounds of golf across the Highlands, which she considered one of her favorite places in the world. She trained in Scottish Highland dancing in her younger years, and adored the Isle of Skye (which will eventually be her final resting place). Back at home Tammi enjoyed activities like scrap-booking, and was known for her special Christmas ornament collection. Tammi found joy in many facets of life and shared what she could with others. She will be greatly missed.
She was the beloved wife for 30 years to Todd Jackson; Cherished mother of Ian Jackson, Rachel Jackson, and Colin Jackson; Treasured daughter of Ann and Tom Rutkowski; Loving sister of Carol Bommarito (Dale), Tom Rutkowski (Leisha), Jerry Morgan (Megan), Matt Rutkowski (Tina), Jennifer Ignash (Josh), and Joseph Morgan (Suzanne); Dear daughter-in-law of Sharon Jackson and the late David Jackson; dearest sister-in-law of Anne Leslie (Mike); Tammi is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and her dogs.
