I was sorry to hear of Bob's passing. My condolences to all the family. I have fond memories of visiting the Garrity household on Chatham street in Detroit. It was always a great place to connect with relatives.

Rob was one of the older cousins, but always treated us young cousins good. We learned from him. 


Bob was a kind, wonderful man.  One thing I know about him was how dedicated he was to his wife, Pat, and their children.  He adored his family.  But if you knew him, I don't have to tell you that.  My husband, Rick and I had the pleasure of being bowling partners for several years with Bob and Pat.  We had so much fun and we laughed SO hard.  Pat, I know your heart is breaking, trust me, I know that "hole in your heart" pain, but I can tell you that with the love and kindness of your family and friends you will get through this.  Bob will live in your heart forever and I know he is and will be with you always.  I only have wonderful, fun memories of Bob and my heart goes out to Pat and the entire family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Mrs. Garrity and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family with the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. I attended St. Cecilia High School with Bob. My late brother Raymond was in Bob's class and I was in John's class. I have positive and fond memories of Bob. He was always gracious and kind. It has been some time since our paths crossed, however his goodness remains with me.  It is our faith that summons us to believe that Bob's "life is simply changed not ended." I hold you in prayer and will celebrate Mass for Bob and your family.

My husband and I were very lucky to move into our first home next to the Garrity family. Bob was the first person to welcome us to the neighbor hood. He was always in the know and I became very fond of our chats. Bob went above and beyond, for not only us but other neighbors as well and it is clear that it was just in his nature to be kind hearted and lend a helping hand. Since moving into our new home God blessed us with two little boys, that grew to adore Mr. Bob. It’s not often enough you meet people like Bob, who change the world you live in, by just being good hearted. We will truly miss you, Mr. Bob, our neighbor...our friend. I have no doubts, that you will be busy, watching down from Heaven, keeping in the know with your family. 

Pat, children and grandchildren, I just want to let all of you know how sorry I am for your loss.  Your husband, father, grandfather was the kindest, thoughtful, loving man that I ever knew.  His quiet voice always made me feel serene and I will miss him. I’ll always have the memory of basketball with the young boys...no matter how much my husband yelled at the boys, Bob never had a harsh word...only a soft “Thank You, great game”.
