

Robert Joseph Clancy (86) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at his home in Harrison Township, Michigan. Bob was born March 28, 1937 (Easter Sunday) to Richard and Bernice (Baranski) Clancy in Kinde, Michigan.
As the eldest son, Bob is survived by three siblings, Gerald (Diane) Clancy, David (Sue) Clancy, and Lorraine (James) Endres. Bob would spend much of his childhood on the family farm in Port Austin under the guidance of his Grandparents Henry and Mabel (McIlhargie) Clancy along with Uncles Phil, Ray, Harry and Gene Clancy.
After his parents settled in Roseville near 13 Mile and Gratiot, Bob would graduate from Eastland High School in 1956. Bob married LaJuana Petkoff and they raised five children together. Robert (Christine) Clancy, Theresa (Joseph) Whitenight, Douglas (Denise) Clancy, Nicholas (Janet) Clancy, and Patrick (Kristin) Clancy. Bob was predeceased by his parents Richard and Bernice (Baranski) Clancy and his dear friend Marie (Salvatore) Oslund. As the patriarch of the Clancy Family, Bob is survived by 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
In 1963, Bob incorporated Clancy Excavating Company. He was one of Detroit's first concrete recyclers with Clancy Crushed Concrete on Little Mack in Roseville. Over the next 60 years, Bob would work with Contractors, General Contractors, and Business Owners in Macomb County and the Detroit area. Producing crushed concrete, installing underground utilities, also site work, trucking, and asphalt paving. Bob's company, Clancy Excavating, had a reputation for excellence and a commitment to quality. Bob was very successful over the years and performed all aspects of business including meeting with customers, bidding jobs, overseeing and working with his men. An excellent equipment operator, he joined the Operating Engineers Local 324 on November 22, 1963 and would be a member for life.
Bob loved to make old things new again. Over the years he restored old trucks and put them back to work. He also restored old farm tractors that he loved as a child, for parades or just to admire in his shop. Bob always had a project at one of his properties that he enjoyed maintaining and improving. He was a snowmobiler for many years and an avid motorcyclist from childhood into his mid 80's. Most of all he enjoyed conversations with relatives and friends at the picnic table in his original shop.
A lifelong Catholic, Bob attended and supported several parishes in Macomb County.
A Visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48035.
A 2nd night of Visitation will occur Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Memory Sharing at 7:00 PM at Kaul Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Township, MI 48035.
Robert will be In-State Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market St, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043.
