He graduated from Deckerville Schools in 1958 and joined the United States Army soon after. On September 2, 1961 he married Vicki Jones at the St. John Lutheran Church of Palms. He was employed by Mueller Brass of Port Huron until his retirement in 2003.
Robert loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, playing games, laughing and talking. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing on the Thunder Bay River in Alpena.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years Vicki, his 3 daughters, Diana (Mark) Foster of Deckerville, Rhonda Heilig and her fiancé Tom of Port Sanilac, and Sheri (Steve) Woodward of Marysville and 1 son Robert Amey III of Deckerville, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers Jerry (Barb) Amey of Commerce Township, Don (Sharon) Amey of Harbor Beach, sister Ann (John) Niebauer of Marlette, and 3 sisters in law Karen Kovacs of Ruby, Bonnie Freiger of Kimball and Charlene Freiger of Port Huron.
He was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter Amanda Decker, 1 grandson Jude Woodward, and 3 brothers in law Dave Kovacs, Ralph Freiger and Ray Freiger.
