I ate lunch with Mary for 8 Years – from 5th Grade to Graduation.  We worked together at the Detroit Arsenal in Center Line together.  We both rode together to our work in the same car with the same driver (Ron Kadykowski).  She stood up for my three marriages, but I could not stand up for her one wedding to Richard Hilliker because I had to leave the church to go directly to the hospital where I had my first born son (I think on the same date).  Mary and I loved one another.  We were like family.  Because I moved to Northern Michigan later in my life, we did not see one another a lot but we stayed in constant contact by telephone (not a smart phone but a real phone).  We were both dedicated Detroit Tiger Fans and I will miss her so much and the visits and calls that we shared for a long, long time.  “Your journey is over my friend and since I turn “83” in February, I am not that far behind you and “I will see you again!”

This photo was taken a few weeks ago when my mom and I got to go down and visit Mary, who happened to be my mom’s childhood best friend and loved family friend. We got her some Detroit Tigers gifts because she was a devout fan. We had such a good time that day laughing and hearing stories of times past. I got to wheel her around that day and I asked her, “Do you trust me to drive this thing?” Mary giggled and replied, “Yep, let’s go.” She will be missed but never forgotten. Fly with the angels Mary!

I didn't know Mary Margaret Hilliker, but I did know her daughter in law, Mary Jane Hilliker. I am so sorry for your lost. I hope she rests in peace.
