She was born September 21, 1935 in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania to the late Alvin and Grace Gindlesperger. She married Melvin V. Curtis on July 3, 1954 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Mary spent her career as a glass inspector with Chrysler and General Dynamics. Always an outgoing and independent person, Mary loved to travel, meet new people and go out and about shopping. She was a former Bingo player, but most recently enjoyed playing Rumicube with her senior living friends. She loved working puzzles, especially jigsaw and word fill ins, and also liked crocheting and reading. Mary was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Curtis and Susan Helle; grandchildren, Victor (Brittany) Curtis and Nicole Curtis; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Landon, Tyler and Jaxon; brother, James (Camille) Gindlesperger; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Katherine Marie Curtis; son, Kurt Curtis; son-in-law, Theodore Helle Jr.; grandson, James Rayman; and siblings, John, Gertrude and Donald Gindlesperger.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1023 Michigan Avenue, Marysville, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
