Born on May 29, 1954 to Isaac and Amparo Austria, Dalen was the beloved youngest of nine siblings - Alfredo Austria, Augusto Austria, Isaac Austria,Jr., Angelita Baduel (deceased), Emma Ebarvia, Bernardita Estrada, Dr. Elsa Isip, and Lourdes Sia.
Dalen grew up in the Philippines in the province of Lumban, Laguna and immigrated to Detroit, Michigan in 1977. For almost 30 years Dalen lived with her various siblings, helping care for her nieces and nephews. Then, in 2005, Dalen and her eldest sister Elsa moved to Northern California to be near her nephews Marvin and Michael and their families. For 19 years Dalen enjoyed the warmth of the West Coast from picking fruit in the Central Valley to taking family excursions to the Bay Area.
Dalen’s life was one of joy and devotion. The love she had for her parents, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces was pure. She was always there to help and never asked for anything in return. Dalen’s happiest moments were family gatherings and celebratory meals; spending time with children of her relatives; and, enjoying her favorite soap operas. Her sweet smile touched everyone.
Dalen’s memory will be cherished forever.
A viewing will be at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 2-8 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 9:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan. Following the service, Dalen will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
