Leonard Ervin Johnson, age 90, passed away on September 6, 2021. Born in the hills of Kentucky in 1931. He joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life, Barbara. They married, settled in Detroit and had 6 children. Leonard became an engineer and worked various jobs until he opened his own companies. He was especially proud of his work designing and manufacturing parts for the space shuttle. He worked along with his sons until his death. He loved his four-legged friends Rusty and Cody and always had a treat for them. He was a great story teller and made everyone laugh and smile.
Leonard E. Johnson, beloved husband to the late Barbara Johnson; dear dad to Michael (Sue) Johnson, Margo (Jerry) Bowman, the late Mark Johnson, Brian (Cindy) Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Lisa Johnson; cherished grandpa to Sarah, Matt, Jerry Jr., Katie, Amy, Ryan, Billy, Andrew, Wade, Lisa, Nicole, Patrick Jr., Jake and Lauren; loving great-grandpa to 13; he is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
The family will greet friends at Kaul Funeral Home of Clinton Township on Thursday, September 9th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral service Friday, September 10th at 11:00am, instate at 10:00am until the time of service.
After a short prayer service at the Resurrection Cemetery chapel Leonard will be laid to rest next to his loving wife at Resurrection Cemetery following Friday’s funeral services.
