Leo J. Urbanski, age 69, of Clinton Township, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of June 30, 2022, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a brave and gentle soul as he struggled through the pain and misery that cancer brings.
Leo had five siblings, two older and three younger. He was a cub scout at an early age and enjoyed the camaraderie of that club. He was resourceful and a hard worker, as evidenced by working a paper route to earn his own income. When asked what really stood out in his mind as a young person, he replied “When me and my mom received our GED, at the same time.” Leo worked as a maintenance technician at Hostess Cakes for 20 years, and then as a class one mechanic and boiler operator for the City of Detroit, and was proud that he became a Union Stewart during his working years. Leo had three children, Leo John Urbanski Jr. (Jamie), the late Stephen Urbanski, and Sarah Ann Urbanski (James). His children are his crowning glory and as he put it, “I’m proud of what my kids became.” The later years of Leo’s life brought Patty Devine into the picture as his lifetime partner. Patty welcomed Leo into her family as if he were there all the time and Leo welcomed Patty into his family in the same manner. She became the love of his life! He loved traveling with Patty, they especially enjoyed a cruise that they were on together. He and Patty purchased a travel trailer and also enjoyed camping (along with Daisy, their beloved dog) in the summertime. Leo will be dearly missed by his family and friends; however, we celebrate his life and we thank God for the years that Leo spent with us on this earth.
A memorial gathering for Leo will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 10:30 AM until the time of a memorial and memory sharing service at 12 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
