Recor Sr., Kenneth Edward – Age 84, July 28, 2024. Cherished husband of Mary Lou Recor. Father of Owen (Donna) Recor, Patricia (Len) Thaens, Diane (Larry) Nucci, Christine (Tim) Boucher, Kenneth Jr. (Lynda) Recor, Michael Recor, Barbara (Scott) Jesnig, and Joseph (Natasha) Recor. Stepfather to Susanne (David) Vertigan, Lisa (Michael) O’Brien, and the late Brenda Morris.
Along with the marriage to his former wife, Barbara Mae Recor (nee Glover), ‘Pappy’ was a proud grandparent of over two dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken is predeceased by his parents Owen & Irene Recor, his brother James Recor of Ocala, Florida. He is survived by his sister Kathy (Jim) Brunett, and brother George Recor, and many nieces and nephews.
While growing up on Detroit’s east side, he played football, and also attended grade school at Assumption Grotto and high school at St. Joseph’s in Detroit. Ken supported his large family with a position at Fiber Bond, followed by a career at Ford Motor Company where he retired in 1999 as a Material Handling Supervisor with 32 years of service.
Ken was very active—both physically and spiritually—well into his retirement. He liked to travel, golf, play softball, and ran several marathons. In his spare time, you’d find Ken walking laps in the mall or his subdivision…or shagging ‘lost’ golf balls around many local golf courses.
Spanning eight decades, he was an active parishioner at St. Valentines (Redford), Assumption Grotto (Detroit), St. Ephrem’s (Sterling Heights), and St. Michael (Sterling Heights). Ken was also committed to The Passionists; since 1958 he was actively engaged in annual retreats at St. Paul of the Cross in Detroit.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 1-8 PM, with a rosary service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, Michigan 48038. An in state gathering will follow Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 10:30 AM, until time of funeral mass at 11 AM at St Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48313. Final resting place, Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
