Karl Stefan Poth passed away on April 6, 2025 in Armada. Karl was born on March 24, 1931 to Stefan and Anna Poth. Karl grew up in Detroit, graduated from Cass Tech. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War, he was stationed in Guam.
Karl married the Love of his Life the late Loraine Liblang on January 16, 1954. She passed away January 27, 1994. He is survived by his children Marie (Carl) Yeo, the late Barbara, Katherine (Michael) Groves, Michael (the late Sally), Karl (the late Karen), and Matthew (Deborah). Karl was the proud Papa to 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandson. He is survived by his Sister-In-Law Carolyn Blowers, and niece and nephews. Karl was the brother to the late Steve (late Eileen) Poth, Stepsisters, the late Eva Machleit and the late Anna Klupp.
While working for the City of Detroit Karl graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. In 1962 he started his Credit Union career volunteering at St Brendan’s Credit Union, Northeast Catholic Credit and Christian Financial Credit Union. After working over 33 years for the City of Detroit he retired and started working full time as an Accounting Manager for 14 years at Christian Financial before retiring again.
Karl loved his Family. He loved to read, always had a book, magazine or crossword puzzle by him. He loved going for car rides when all of a sudden his car would have to pull into an ice cream shop. He liked to blame it on the car. After he couldn’t drive anymore he liked his Klondike bars.
A visitation for Karl will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Road in Sterling Heights, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM.
