Born on June 19, 1941, June's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was born and raised in Detroit, and loved to share stories about what life in Detroit was like back in her younger years. She always had something to say, and was never shy about saying it. You may have been lucky enough to receive one of her homemade cards for one holiday or another, or see other crafts she worked on. Her cookies were famous to the family, as they worked at learning and perfecting her magic making them.
She had a fondness for horses that led her to eagerly anticipate and follow progress for the Triple Crown Thoroughbred Races every year, and was also a member of the Old Friends Equine Farm in Georgetown Kentucky that cares for retired racehorses, and enjoyed her visits out there and keeping in touch with the organization. June also had a huge passion for football, especially for her beloved Cowboys and Chiefs, though she recently started to have a slow-growing affection for the Detroit Lions (due to her daughter’s insistence). Beyond horses and football, June's greatest love was reserved for her late husband, Dick, whose memory she held an unending devotion for in her heart since his passing in 1998. Her dedication to family was unmatched, and she found immense joy in visiting with her children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In her later years, June discovered a love for reading, often escaping into the pages or immersing herself in the heartwarming romantic tales of Hallmark Channel movies. June leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
June is survived by her children, John Comfort (April), April Comfort, and Lisa Liening; Grandchildren Amber Cappo (Shane), Brooke Comfort, Ashley “Jill” Stahl, and Whitney Ostroski; great-grandchildren Maxwell and August; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 12-8 PM, with a funeral service at 7 PM at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038.
