Jim, two years ago, our world was turned upside down.  Not a second, minute or day goes by that we don't wish you were still here with us.  We share memories of you every day with your boys.  Although the heartache of losing you will never go away, rest peacefully knowing they are happy.  Keep pulling those strings for the Lions and Wolverines.  We love and miss you so much.

I’ve know George, Jim and Jeff since working at Vico products and purchasing tools from Wire Dynamics since the late 80’s. The Kozel family has always been good to us here at Vico, and have been more like friends than just suppliers. I will always remember Jim for his laugh and smile when we talked on the phone or picking up tools when I would drop by. My heart goes out to you all, Jim will always live in everyone he touched…

I have only had the pleasure to meet Jim a few times. But to see my husband Brian dujardin interact with him and the rest of his high school buddies is priceless. Just knowing all the things I have learned through the years about Jim has touched my heart in more ways then one. The bond that these men had has been absolutely priceless. Seeing the love on Sunday night celebrating Jim was absolutely amazing. God bless all of the family and friends who are hurting by his loss. He clearly has touched so many and meant so much to everyone. God bless and so much love being sent to you all.

This is a letter that I never envisioned having to write you; it is not how the script was supposed to read! Then again, we’ve both lived through enough heartache in our lives to know that things like this can and do happen. In fact looking back, our first encounter and eventual friendship was forged upon it.

Through divorce we were placed in the position of having to meet and relate with each other on a regular basis, especially when your boys were younger. I respected you from day one because you always treated me with dignity and the utmost respect. I am eternally grateful for your civility as sadly it’s uncommon in today’s society.

I want to commend Roxanne and you for raising two bright, beautiful and caring children. By setting the example of what co-parenting should like, they matured into fine young men that anyone would be proud to call their own. Know that I have no intention of replacing you as their father. Instead I see my job in more of a supportive role; keeping your memory alive and continuing to be there for them.   

Over the past few years our conversations became fewer but I saw it as a good thing, aware that you had found Deb; it was a sign that you were truly happy. Thank you for reaching out to me during the recent Michigan vs OSU football game. I will miss our discussions about strategy but take solace in the fact that our last communication was on a high note. 

Rest in peace my friend; I’m a better person for having known you!

We are all in such shock and loss! We all loved you Jim. Your ex father in law always would kid you by saying “see you at Christmas” cause we didn’t get to see you much. I’m glad we always stayed friends and always cared about you. You always remembered me by calling or texting for holidays and birthdays.We will miss you and we will always be in touch with your boys.

Jim raised the most amazing, smart, thoughtful, kind sons. We know Ryan well and we are embracing him with all our love in this time of sorrow. We are so so sorry for the loss of your beloved. 

Dude, you will be missed so much; Your smile.  Your laugh.  I often think of your fabulous soup, makes my mouth water every time.   We were lucky to have you as family.  Much love to Justin and Ryan, Jeff and family, Joe and family, Judy and George.  (we'll always have the Big Boy visit experience).  RIP young man.
