Ed was born in Mt. Clemens, MI, on November 8, 1940 to Harry and Ruth (Phillips) Benoit.
Edward served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1960. In 1963 he married his beloved wife of 58 years Lucille (Smolinski) and together they raised five children. He worked for Chrysler Corporation at the Sterling Stamping plant for 29 years and was involved in the Knights of Columbus and Junior Achievement USA. In his retirement, he worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and enjoyed many winters in Florida making new friends and watching the sun set over the ocean. Nothing made him happier than time spent with his family.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ruth, stepmother Bernidean Benoit and brother Bill Benoit.
Ed is survived by his wife Lucille, and children Marybeth Stockdale, Donna (Andy) Killebrew, Michele (Ron) Silagy, Edward Jr. (Tiphanie) Benoit and John (Christine) Benoit, brothers Bob Hill and Roger Benoit, and eight grandchildren Tommy, Garrett, Alex, Emily, Jack, Ethan, Alivia and Stephanie.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 21st from 3-8PM. at Kaul Funeral Home 35201 Garfield Road, Clinton Township.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22 at 9:30 in state 10AM Mass at St. Thecla Catholic Church, 20740 S. Nunneley Road, Clinton Township. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
