In 1982, St. Thecla Catholic School was blessed to have Miss Cindy Pryor join our teaching staff. For the next 41 years, Miss Pryor would teach Religion, Literature, and English to our students. More importantly, Miss Pryor would spend those years teaching both students and adults how to be faithful Disciples of Christ. She taught her students to be well spoken, confident, kind, compassionate, to serve Jesus and to be bold in their faith. Miss Pryor loved and treated her students as if they were her own children and they were.
Along with being an amazing educator, she was the convener of the Eastside Forensic League for over 20 years, she was the writer and director of our school play for 30 years. Her plays raised over $100,000.00 for the Make a Wish Foundations which she had donated in memory of Colin James O'Riley (a student that had passed away). She organized and facilitated service opportunities such as a food drive for the St. Thecla Food Pantry, toy drives at Christmas, St. Thecla Scholarship fund, clothing and food drives for Catholic schools in Detroit, collections for Compassion Pregnancy Center and Gianna House, and spent countless hours serving the homeless through MCREST.
There truly are not words to adequately express the heartfelt gratitude we have for the life of Miss Cindy Pryor. Her acts of kindness and generosity truly reflect the love and teachings of Jesus.
We ask that just as Miss Pryor has done for all of us, that we now all pray for the repose of the soul of Miss Pryor and comfort and healing to all those that loved her.
We know that Miss Pryor touched the lives of many, we ask that if you have a photo or a story of Miss Pryor, that you share it with the family via the online guestbook below or via email at [email protected]. These special memories will help remind us that through our hurt, we must realize how Blessed we were to have the years we did with her.
Stay Gold!!!!!!!!
