Colleen Marie McBride

Colleen was born on January 28, 1937 in Cass City, Michigan to Gertrude Szarapski and Edward McNamara. She attended Cass City High School and married Wayne McBride in 1959. Colleen worked at Cass City hospital as a lab tech and held a range of office and retail positions for many years. She loved to dance, was an accomplished bowler, could make anything grow and loved her many dogs and cats through the years…especially her Jack Russell, Buddy.

She will be remembered for her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor, and became a go-to resident by the Staff of Sunrise Assisted Living for a laugh and advice on how to navigate life’s challenges.

Most of all, Colleen loved her family. She leaves behind two sons: Mike (Katie) and Scott (Christina); five grandchildren: Sarah, Sean, Elena, William and Maria; her sister, Jane; her brother, Rick (Romelia); and step-father, Chet (Mary). She is preceded in death by her mother and her brother-in-law, Bob Gray.

The family kindly asks that memorial contributions be directed to Michigan Humane (www.michiganhumane.org), the oldest and largest nonprofit animal welfare organization in the state.

The family will have a private graveside service to honor Colleen on February 15, 2024.
