She was the beloved wife of Anthony Scrivo for 69 years. Loving Mother of Jeanne (the late Gerald) Burns, Ralph (Kaye), the late Anthony P. Scrivo., the late Daniel J. Scrivo, Carolynn (Bernard) Sloan and Alison Furtaw (the Late Thomas Furtaw). Proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother to 14. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mildred and Daniel Kellock and her siblings, Florence Randall (the late Garland Randall and George Allen (the late Florence Allen).
Betty-Jean (Kellock) was born and raised in Detroit. As she liked to say, it was one week before the crash of the Stock Market. She was the daughter of Daniel Kellock a Pennsylvania Coal Minor, that moved to Detroit after meeting her mother to work at the Packard Plant. Her mother Mildred Allen was from England. She left England and came here and worked 27 years at Chrysler as a chief steward. During her early years, she attended school in the Detroit Public school system. While in her Senior year she was awarded a Musical Scholarship from South Eastern High School to attend UCLA school of Music, for her ability to play the Violin. An award she was very proud of. In that same year, Betty met Anthony Scrivo at the Greystone Ballroom and the idea of leaving for California was not to be. She became a young mother at 17, and went on to have six children with her husband Anthony Scrivo of 69 years. Our mom was a stay at home mom for 30 some years. She returned to school, at age 45 and obtained her Real Estate License, not totally satisfied with selling Real Estate, she then went on to a Medical Assistance Program. Working at Saratoga Hospital for the next 10 years. She was a wonderful employee and was selected to be an "on the Job trained" Respiratory Therapist. Before leaving Saratoga, she transferred into the Operating Room as a Stocking Clerk. After Retiring from Saratoga hospital, she worked part time at Henry Ford Hospital and St John Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist. Once fully retired, she enjoyed heading up North to visit her best friend Jane Massengale. She loved the Upper Peninsula. A few Vacations with our Dad, and several trips with my sister Alison kept mom busy. She loved seeing the grandkids and the great grand kids too. Betty loved the holidays, and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is up there dancing with dad. Love you forever, mom.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St Clair Shores, MI. A memorial luncheon will immediately follow in the church social hall.
