Pauline was born on August 12, 1947 to John and Margaret (Bozoki-Kreutz) Papavasiliou in Washington, DC. The family moved to Riverdale, Maryland, where Pauline attended school, graduating from Bladensburg High in 1965. She joined the US Civil Service, and through her career worked for the Post Office, and the Departments of the Air Force, Treasury, and Army, including assignments in the Philippines, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.
While in Germany she met and married Russell Thomas. Pauline and Russell were avid cyclists, cross country skiers, and travelers, visiting 23 countries during their 16 years in Europe. Their daughter Elizabeth was born in 1989 while they were assigned in Berlin, Germany. They returned to the USA in 1999, settling in Clinton, Mississippi. Pauline became a full time supporter of Elizabeth's swim teams, choir, and band activities.
She was a member of Holy Trinity and St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Jackson, serving on the parish council, and was active in women's activities, Sunday school, and the Youth Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Russell, daughter Elizabeth, sisters Sofia and Stefanie (Tom), brother Chris (Tina), and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and Godchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity and St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Jackson, MS or Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Washington D.C.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton followed by a Trisagion Service at 8:00pm. Burial will be in George Washington Cemetery in Delphi, MD.
