Janice was born January 28th, 1952, in Jackson, MS to Earl James and Carabel Rabun Stringer. She was the youngest of their three children. Janice grew up in Jackson, MS, attending Provine High School and Hinds Community College. She worked for Stribling Puckett, Inc. for 6 years, and recently retired after 31 years of working for the Mississippi Department of Disability Determination Service.
Janice met her husband, Herbert Glenn Newell, while working for Stribling Puckett and they were married on September 9th, 1977. They lived in Clinton, MS, where they are active members of the Clinton Church of Christ, and he serves as an elder.
Janice’s greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed working on craft projects, such as scrap booking and cake decorating, for family and friends. Janice derived great enjoyment for many years while following her children and their many sporting events, which included basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and football. She recently began to enjoy traveling with her husband, Glenn.
Janice is preceded in death by her father, Earl Stringer, her step-father, B.S. Craft, and her half-brother, Stewart Craft.
Janice is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Glenn, of Clinton, MS, her two loving children, Cassandra Leigh of Pittsburg, TX, and Christopher Earl of Hattiesburg, MS, her mother, Carabel Craft, of Clinton, MS, her mother-in-law, Zeola Roene Morgan, of Ridgeland, MS, her brothers, Jimmy Stringer and wife Jan, of Ridgeland, MS, Robby Stringer and wife Linda, of Brandon, MS, her sister-in-law, Alisa Anne Marx and husband Marlon of Albert Lee, Minnesota, her step-sister, Donna C. Cook and husband Joe of Clinton, and her many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton Saturday, January 1st, from 4-6 pm as well as the Clinton Church of Christ Sunday, January 2nd, from 2-3 pm, with the funeral immediately following at 3 pm. Burial with graveside service will be at Lakewood South Cemetery Monday, January 3rd, at 10 am.
