James R. Williams, 82, of Brownsville, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 13th at 11am with visitation at 10am at First Baptist Church in Flora, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
James (Jim) Williams was born August 12, 1930 in Rockport, Mississippi. He graduated from Terry High School in 1950. Mr. Williams served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean conflict. He was the owner of Jim’s Auto Service in Jackson, Mississippi for 40 years. Mr. Williams was a faithful member of FBC Flora and chief of the Brownsville Volunteer Fire Dept. for 19 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley Goode Williams of Bolton; daughters, Denice Stubbs (Randy) of Bolton and Pam Smith (Scott) of Clinton; grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Tyler Stubbs, and Brandon Smith; sisters, Helen Posey (William) and Frances Simmons (Billy); and brother A.J. Williams (Bertha) all of Hattiesburg and Sister in Law, Betty Williams of Mobile, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruby Williams; brothers; Charles Williams of Hattiesburg and Clyde Williams of Mobile, Alabama.
Mr. Williams was a people person with a strong work ethic who loved to garden, farm, and travel. Most of all, he loved to serve his Lord Jesus Christ by serving others.
