Mr. Galvin was born on November 11, 1941, in New Haven, the son of John J. and Helen (Doherty) Galvin.
Mr. Galvin graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1960 and attended Quinnipiac College. He was employed by the USPS for 42 years and was the Postmaster of the Chester Post Office. He was a member of the National Association and National League of Postmasters. He was a member and past president of the CT Branch of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth and Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the Father Curtain Assembly in West Haven. He was also a member of the New London Lodge of Elks and the parish council at St. Lawrence Church.
Mr. Galvin is survived by his wife Joan; daughters Patricia and Kathleen Galvin of Killingworth and William Galvin of Chester; siblings John and Mary Galvin, both of West Haven; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John and sister Noreen Galvin.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 5th from 4-7pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30am in St. Lawrence Church, Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. A calling hour will be held in church on Thursday from 9:30am-10:30am. A graveside service will be held on Saturday November 8th at 10:30am at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
