Thomas O. Colwell, Sr., 85, beloved partner of Norma Colwell passed away November 12, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice. He was born July 9, 1928 at Grace New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. He settled his family in Clinton in 1966 so he could pursue being an electrician throughout the State of Connecticut. He was employed by Local 90, I.B.E.W. until he retired in 1986. He was a veteran of the Korean War, stationed at Fort Meade in Maryland. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton. He enjoyed the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and the American Legion. Special achievements: getting his union card, recognized by Susan Bysiewicz for serving in the Korean War, Elk of the year (1998).
He is survived by his beloved partner Norma Colwell (Clinton), his children; Thomas Jr and Alicia Colwell (Clinton), Robert Colwell (Clinton), Susan Colwell and Cameron Bourn (Old Saybrook), Maureen Colwell (Shelton). Grandchild Thomas Colwell III (Clinton), Great-grandchild Justin Colwell, (Clinton); And by his sisters; Catherine O’Connell (Hamden), Judith Quinn (New Paltz, NY) and many nieces and nephews. Also, step-grandchildren; Kyle (Lindsey) Peatfield (Watertown, NY), Chelsea Bourn, (Coventry, CT), Ryan (Alisa) Roberts, (Clinton). Step-great-grandchild; Riley Peatfield (Watertown, NY).
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton, CT Friday evening, November 15, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation, Grove Street, Clinton, CT. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook, CT. with full military honors.
