Scott Richard Andrews

Scott “Chief” Andrews passed away July 8th, 2016 peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership to a brotherhood and sisterhood in the Clinton Volunteer Fire and Rescue/EMS department after 29 years of service. Scott instituted, during his days as Chief, an open door policy for his department and was always available to the members. Former Chief of Police, Todd Lawrie, named Scott “The Great Unifier”. He was a member of the Valley Shore Chief’s Association as well as a certified Fire Instructor. He retired as “Chief” from active duty in 2005 where he took up motorcycle riding with his wife and best friends. He worked for Madison Oil in Madison, CT for 15 years before becoming ill and then went to work at the Clinton Police Department as a part time dispatcher. Scott has been widely respected and best known for his gentle demeanor whether on a fire scene or a rescue call. He has been called a role model and mentor by many and is best known for his concern of others before himself. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, grandson, brother, uncle and nephew as well as a best friend to many.

Scott is predeceased by Great Grandparents: Horace and Julia Andrews, Charles and Blanche Heser. Grandparents: John and Mildred Andrews, Richard and Marie Voegtli.

Survived by: his wife Donna Marie Andrews, Daughter Kelly Andrews, Daughter Kristen Grossman and husband Brad along with two grandchildren, Gage and Leighton. Step Daughter Brianna Bushee. Father John “Jack” Andrews, Mother Blanche and Stepfather Miner Vincent. Sister Debbie Recker and husband Matthew. Brother John Andrews and sister Kimberly Andrews. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Best friends Sammy and Dianna Sanso.

A Fireman’s service will be held at the First Church of Christ (Congregational Church) in Clinton, August 6th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Internment at Indian River Cemetery following his “Last Ride” as “Chief”. A Celebration of his life will follow immediately after at the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department.
