Rose M. Gasparini, age 87, entered into rest on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Connecticut Hospice. Born March 30, 1926 in Clinton, she was the daughter of the late Louisa and Peter Malchiodi of Clinton. She resided in Clinton and graduated from both Morgan High School (1944), as well as The Stone School of Business (New Haven, CT); and, played women’s semi-professional basketball in the 1940’s. She supported America’s efforts in World War II by working at Pond’s after school program during high school. She was employed by Pepperidge Farm Mail Order ~25 years. Before and during her retirement she actively supported all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting activities. She was an avid fan of UCONN Women’s and Men’s basketball, as well as the New York Yankees.
She was the beloved Mother of Kim D. Gasparini, Jeffrey P. (Karen) Gasparini, Lisa M. (David) Gesick, Peter B. (Adrienne) Gasparini and Clifford R. (Shellane) Gasparini II; grandmother of Lauren, Patrick, Drew, Ryan, Madeleine, Katherine and Caroline Gasparini; Sarah, Cameron and Haley Gesick. She was predeceased by her brothers William and Bernard Malchiodi and Sister Elvira Repetti; and grandson Daniel James Gasparini.
She was a communicant and served as a Eucharistic Minister of Saint Mary’s Church of Clinton. She and her sister donated use of real property on Cedar Island Avenue as a vegetable garden to support local food pantries since 1981.
Friends and family may call to the Swan Funeral Home in Clinton CT, Friday, November 29, 5:00PM—8:00PM. A Funeral liturgy will be held Saturday, November 30, 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church of Visitation, Clinton, followed by a Christian burial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton.
