Ronnie was born in Oklahoma to the late Daisy and Allie Vernon on November 15, 1940. He married Roberta Connors, known to all as Betty, on October 24, 1975. He worked as a generator technician for many years. In that capacity, he had the opportunity to travel the world, visiting countries in Europe, South America, and the Middle East. He made friends everywhere, and had many fascinating stories to tell. He was also a veteran of the Army. An accomplished bowler, he had several perfect games, many league championships, and a host of other awards. Other favorite activities included fishing, rooting for the UCONN Women's Huskies basketball team and visiting with family and friends. He was also a member of the Elks Club for many years.
Ronnie is preceded in death by Betty, his wife of 43 years.
Ronnie leaves behind his children, Rhonda (Wayne) Hooper, Gregory (Christina) Vernon and Richard (Rose) Weder; grandchildren, Judith Hawes, Brooke (Matthew) Sager, Mirannda (Brian) Lambert, Kevin Hooper, Eric (Amanda) Hooper, and Christian Bender; great grandchildren, Aidan, Delilah, Jacob, Silas, Rosabelle, and Harper; siblings and many extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3rd, at noon, at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton, CT. Burial will follow at Indian River Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be held for two hours prior to the service from 10am- noon, at the funeral home.
