He was born on February 8, 1934 to the late Elwell H. Perry and Dorothy (Pierce) Perry in New Haven, CT. Robert proudly served with the Connecticut State Police for 24 years retiring as Trooper First class in 1988. He is a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a life member of the VFW, Post 10690 in Higganum, CT.
Robert enjoyed reminiscing about his time in the Navy on board the USS Murray and sharing stories with his family about his visits to various foreign ports. Simple things in life made him happy. He loved the time he spent joking around with his grandchildren and making them laugh. He enjoyed taking rides with his wife and his afternoon coffee visits with his friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Catherine of 58 years. Proud father of his daughter, Linda Perry of Branford; daughter Donna Lebert and her husband Arthur of Clinton; son Robert Perry and wife Tracey of Haddam. “Poppy” will be missed dearly by his grandchildren Alexandra and Matthew Lebert and Tristen and Jarod Perry. Further survived by his brother, Bruce Perry and his wife Marion and many nieces and nephews. He also had two sisters.
