Bob DesRochers 68, of Clinton passed on March 18 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. His wife and daughter were at his side. He was the beloved husband of Diane K. DesRochers and proud father of Dr. Danee DesRochers, now of Portsmouth, R.I. Bob was born in Fall River, MA on March 6, 1944, son of the late Rudolphe DesRochers and Jane Thiboutot. He graduated from the University of Massachuetts with a BS in electrical engineering and went on to receive his MBA from the University of New Haven. Bob worked as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for several years before venturing on to opening his own Radio Shack franchise in Norwich. Over the past 30 years, he was employed by Electric Boat in Groton as a principle engineer. His insightful intelligence and gracious demeanor will be missed by many there. Additionally, he served for many years as the president of the Lochwood Lake Association. Bob loved the water and spent as much time as possible on it. He could be seen fishing, water-skiing, jet-skiing or just plain relaxing with his wife off the coast on any given summer day. He also loved to snow ski and work on cars or engines of any type. He built his own 9.5 runabout at the age of 13!!!
Besides his loving wife and daughter, Bob is survived by his step-father, Normand Thiboutot of Fall River, MA. and three half-brothers, Normand Thiboutot, Jr. of Fall River, MA and Ron and Leo Thiboutot, both of Tiverton, R.I. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in Clinton on Monday, March 26 followed by a reception for family and friends in the parish hall. Calling hours will be at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main St., Clinton on Sunday, March 25 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.swanfh.com.
