Richard H. Funk, 100, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024 at his home in Clinton. He was the widower of Doris Burnham Funk. He was born July 18, 1924, in Clinton, to the late Henry John Funk and Lena May Harris Funk.
He is survived by his sister, Edith M. Schumann; his children, Gary W. Funk of Clinton, Janice F. Gdovin and her husband George of Guilford, Steven M. Funk and his wife Paula of Middle Haddam, Christopher B. Funk and his wife Kristine of Clinton, and Richard Todd Funk of Virginia; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry C. Funk and Edward W. Funk; and by his sisters, Catherine R. Fanslow and Louise M. Murphy.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Clinton and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked at UARCO, in Deep River, for forty years before retiring. He used his retirement time to pursue his two passions, golf and woodworking. He would happily travel to golf courses throughout Connecticut in order to play. In his small shop in the basement he built many large pieces of furniture and many finer detailed pieces of furniture as well.
He will be greatly missed.
