Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of Joseph and Regina Daley. Drafted right out of high school, he served in the US Army (E-5) at Fort Hood , Texas and overseas in South Korea. Richard worked in construction , Local 33 Heat and Frost Insulators, for most of his life, was an able craftsman and avid pool player. He loved spending afternoons in New London with friends, watching old movies, and homemade apple pie.
But most of all, Richard loved his family. He was devoted to his wife of almost 54 years, Agatha, nee Parlato; beloved sons, Brian (Chanmany) and Kevin (Nicole) and grandsons Brian, Liam and Cole. He loved the sound of their laughter and was so proud of his boys. Richard is also survived by his brother and best friend, Anthony(Frieda) and sisters-in-law Felicia Dickinson (Richard) and Heidi Parlato (Vincent, predeceased); niece Kristen Plock (Justin); nephew Joseph Daley (Ana); great nieces Maya and Edie (Plock); great nephew Luca (Daley) and extended family members.
Although he lived in Connecticut, Richard’s happy place was Vermont where he was most content and looked forward to visiting often. He enjoyed spending time in his favorite book store, Northshire Bookstore, exploring the country-side, and dining out. He was kind, generous, had a keen sense of humor, and positive outlook.
The family would like to thank the staff at Smilow Cancer Center, Guilford and New Haven, the Westbrook Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice Care of Branford for their support, care and comfort. Donations, in his memory, to any of the above institutions or to a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
