Priscilla was predeceased by her parents John and Angie Walker of Clinton, and two sisters Hester Walker Gorecki and Joanne Walker McCarthy. Priscilla is survived by her husband Joseph of 67 years, sister Lynette Walker Melnichuk of Casco Maine, daughter Pamela Gibson of Chicago, son Jonathan Valvano of Austin, three grandchildren Benjamin, Daniel and Elizabeth, cousins, nephews, and many friends along the shoreline.
She studied art at Vesper George Art School in Boston. She played bass in John Hesser's Band. She served as a US Naval Wave during World War II. She married Joseph Valvano June 15, 1947. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary both locally in the Hillard Jones Cookson Post #66 and statewide. She was a long time member of United Methodist Church of Clinton, singing in the choir. For many years she taught pottery and ceramics in her studio. She avidly pursued the study and practice of a number of arts and crafts: painting in a number of mediums, tamari balls, calligraphy, bead making, fused glass, dressmaking, patternmaking, quilting, felting, and ikenobo flower arranging. She recieved formal training from Master Teachers of Ikenobo in Kyoto, Japan. She was active in the Clinton Arts Society and Madison Art Society. Her work has been juried into local shows of the Clinton Art Society, Madison Art Society, and Guilford Art Guild.
Calling hours will be held on Friday October 2nd from 6-8pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 3rd, at 12pm in The United Methodist Church of Clinton, 12 Commerce St., Clinton. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Brook Cemetery, Clinton.
